Arashi Do Martial Arts began over 25 years ago in Rocky Mountain House, AB. Since it's inception, Arashi Do has maintained a philosophy of excellence in every discipline it approaches. In the beginning there was a small Karate club and a dream of approaching martial arts holistically; more than one style makes up the entirety of martial arts. From that beginning the mandate went out to explore other martial arts and to discover and bring home those that touched the explorers spirit while maintaining and expanding our foundation martial arts. Shoot Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing were introduced to Arashi Do over the next couple of decades. Our owners, trainers, and members have trained in Thailand at several different camps and have fought there as well, and continue to do so, bringing that experience and new expertise back to Arashi Do with them. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program has benefited from years of training for our members and instructors and we are partners with Mestre Sylvio da Matta Behring, bringing with him decades of training and experience as well as a legacy tracing directly back to Helio Gracie, the founder of BJJ in Brazil! Now we are embarking on an exciting new partnership with Erik Paulson and his Combat Submission Wrestling team! Erik Paulson is a former MMA fighter, champion and his coaching skills are only on par with his mentor-ship for up and coming coaches. Several of our instructors, owners, and members have been training with Erik in California and we have recently partnered with him so that our programs can join forces and bring MMA Grappling and the CSW techniques to Alberta! We are proud to introduce our new MMA Grappling classes and can not wait to add to our Arashi Do community as this exciting and energy filled new chapter begins.
