My name is Sensei Axel. I started my martial arts career in Argentina at the age of four. In the year 2000, my family and I made the big move to Canada. Since then, Edmonton has been my new home. Within the first months of living in Edmonton, we had searched Karate school that had offered Shotokan. Arashi-Do was my first school were at the time Renshi Chris took it upon himself to teach me Karate. It was hard for the both of us, I didn’t speak English, and Renshi didn’t speak Spanish. Therefore, we resorted to kicks and punches. Over the years, I have competed in tournaments all over Alberta, within Arashi-Do and open competitions. The biggest challenge was competing in the National Karate Tournament in Toronto, and Tiger Balm held in Vancouver. After several years of training with Arashi-Do under Renshi Chris, I achieved my black belt on April 17, 2004. It was then that I knew that there was so much more to learn. Eager for more training I started Kung Fu with the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Association under Sifu Brendan Lee. The style itself is a hard style of Kung Fu, and I expanded my knowledge with the wide arrangement of weapons along with the Lion Dance Team. Due to the style being completely different from Karate, I started again at a white belt level, and then over the years achieved my black sash at Ging Wu. Now, I have returned to Arashi-Do with the challenge of achieving a black belt in Muay Thai as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My goals are to travel to Japan and train under the highest ranking Sensei’s in Karate, along with traveling to other parts of the world to learn as much as I can. Also, to compete in more tournaments and open up my own Arashi Do Martial Arts School.
