I started my martial arts journey in 2005 with Kvapil Karate. For the two years I trained with them I worked hard to learn my technique and build self-confidence. During this time I was fortunate enough to have competed in the WKA Alberta provincials as a blue belt where I won gold and silver medals in sparring and kata respectively. When Kvapil moved back to Ontario and the owner ship of the dojo was transferred to Arashido Martial Arts I was a brown belt and eager to earn my black belt that year. With Arashido I have been exposed to many other styles of martial arts (Muay Thai, BJJ and Cardio Kickboxing) and I was able to adapt my skills to the Shotokan style and in 2008 I received my black belt. I still continue to train and have since taken on a leadership role at the Springbank dojo by teaching Ladies Cardio Kick-boxing. I also assist by filling in for the head Sensei in his absence. I love being a part of the Arashido team and I hope to continue to improve and learn more about martial arts my entire life.
