News Release Update:
Hello again Competitors, Families and Friends,
Due to the Covid-19 virus, after carefully considerations and meetings this past hour, we will be postponing the Capital City Championships until further notice, following the Health Ministers recent press release.
Options of trying to have less than 250 people at the event would lead us to rearrange the schedule so drastically that it just isn’t feasible, and the reality I agree with, is that it’s obvious that it could spread faster in large gatherings, without proper screening of those in attendance, so I think postponing it is the responsible thing to do regardless of the number of people attending.
I’m very sorry and I know all of you were excited to compete and have your loved ones compete, and I know for everyone, once you sign up and commit to a competition like this, it is something you take seriously, and train for both physically and mentally, and it is a big deal.
I have talked to the venue co-ordinator and he is more than happy to try and find a future date that will work for us, once it is deemed safe to do so, as they also want the best for the competitors to have an event they can take part in.
Unfortunately, we don’t know how long that will be yet, so we will keep everyone posted as things unfold with the AB Health Services recommendations.
Seeing as how we do not know when the potential date might be, and things might change between now and then, I am not interested in any kind of a credit system for those that have signed up. I think it will be far easier for everyone if money is fully refunded and everyone can sign up again if they can make it to the next date.
Putting on a tournament this size takes an enormous amount of organizing, and especially these past few days dealing with the corrections that go along with preparing the competitor entries and I am working very long days everyday in preparation (as are the programmers at Mata Leao). So, I ask for your patience while I sort through the details, and get everyone’s tournament registration refunds out to them via PayPal the same way they paid.
I hope to get to most of it this evening, however I also have my own evening business to run and students and classes to teach, so I won’t get to everything until I get home from the dojo, or in the next day or so.
Again, this really sucks for everyone, but it’s the best thing to do to limit the spread of the covid virus until it passes and is fully controlled.
Stay safe, practice good hygiene, and I hope to have a great event for everyone to take part in as soon as opportunity allows us to do so.
